Mission

Our program’s mission is to collaborate with the commune of Ait Bayoud, Morocco in developing infrastructure projects that will improve community members’ quality of life. We take a human-centered approach to design, prioritizing community members’ needs and long-term sustainability. Our collaboration with Ait Bayoud began with the construction of the world’s longest high-density polymer simple suspension footbridge across the Tagawowt River in order to provide community members living on the north bank access to the hospital, school, and market on the south bank. For our current project, we are collaborating with the Ilguilouda douar, a remote village within Ait Bayoud. During the summer, their local well runs dry and community members, usually women and children, walk on average two to four hours a day to collect water from other villages. This summer, our team aims to construct a solar-powered water distribution system that will provide the douar with potable running water year-round.
