Our Team

Alice is the co-project manager for the Morocco program. She is a senior studying electrical engineering. She joined EWB back in freshman year because she wanted to use engineering to address the needs of under-served populations. At the time, she had no idea how important this project would become to her--to the point of sometimes sidelining coursework and research--nor how challenging it would be, but she is so grateful to have the opportunity to lead this project.

Justin is a rising sophomore in SEAS, intending to study Earth and Environmental Engineering. He is excited about the opportunity to use engineering to provide clean drinking water for the communities in Ait Bayoud, Morocco. Joining the EWB Morocco Team has challenged him in different ways, from technical to artistic, and he can’t wait to get to know the people in the communities!

Donald is designing and implementing the pipe line portion of the project and joined Engineers Without Borders to help people and make them smile. He intends to leverage his education he feels privileged to have obtained and bring water to a village that will hopefully encourage education development for the youth. He graduated from SEAS in 2018 and continues to volunteer for engineer projects around the world.

Rachel is co-leading a trench team in support of the pipeline development and is responsible for helping determine community impact, surveying the local populace and is implementing a hygiene initiative that coordinates with the new water source. She is a rising senior at the School of General Studies and the President of the U.S Military Veterans of Columbia University. Rachel is currently a Staff Sergeant in the United States Marine Corps, a singer, competed in two seasons of NBC's SpartanRace and the World's Toughest Mudder, and enjoys making food for family and friends.

John Yatsko is responsible for the design and construction of the steel solar rack and reinforced concrete water tank which the CU-EWB team will implement in Morocco this summer. Before graduating from GS with a degree in philosophy, John was a licensed massage therapist and a member of the Spartan Race Pro Team.

Gabriel is supporting sourcing and construction of the solar rack and reinforced concrete water tank. She is an Earth and Environmental Engineering Major and Economics Minor in SEAS from Iowa. She is passionate about bringing a solar powered water distribution system to the villages we work with because of the likely empowerment impacts on women in the village. Outside of EWB-Morocco, Gabriel water skis, sails, eats A LOT, practices yoga, and travels with her family.

Raayan is a junior studying Operations Research. His passion for finding low-cost, easily accessible, and sustainable solutions to infrastructure problems has driven him to travel twice to Morocco with Engineers Without Borders. Working on the program’s previous bridge and current water distribution projects has put his brain and physical strength to the test, and he’s excited to spend more time with the communities this summer!

Leanne is a rising Sophomore majoring in Biomedical Engineering at SEAS. She is the tapstands team lead and is passionate about how this essential element of the project tests her abilities in human-centered design as it intersects with engineering. She intends to eventually enter the biotech space, and looks forward to spending the coming years fleshing out that dream.
